The incentive travel industry has suffered persistent scrutiny for several years. Incentive travel was portrayed by the media as a misuse of funds in a time of economic distress for most of corporate America. In fear of not wanting to be seen as mismanaging funds, incentive travel programs were either eliminated or severely cut. As a result, the value of incentive travel has been questioned. Not understanding the positive implications a successful incentive travel program provides the sponsoring company or the earners of the incentive travel has created a misperception of the incentive travel industry.
