Early Detection and Diagnosis of spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH)

haematoma-in-young-adultA 22 year young adult was presented with the symptoms of severe chest pain, weakness and numbness, progressing to intense paraparesis. It was diagnosed as acute epidural hematoma of cervico-thoracic spinal segments with cord compression. It was diagnosed as Idiopathic SSEH and the patient underwent decompressive laminectomy with hematoma evacuation.  The study emphasizes the need for the early diagnosis of SSEH, which may turn fatal if neglected.
