Involving Local Communities in Water Supply to Ensure Safe Drinking Water: A Study at Dar Es Saalam

Although water is a lifesaving essential resource, equal access to the safe and secured water across the regions including rural, semi-urban and smaller towns is denied due to lack of decentralized policies that provide free access to safe drinking water. A study initiated at the Ukonga ward of the Ilala District of Dar Es salaam, Tanzania proposed to involve local communities and local governments for water supply. The study examined the water distribution in Dar Es Salaam and found several gaps in the water distribution despite clear policies. The study made suggestions to improve the quality water supply by fixing implementation errors.

The Mediating Role of Risk Perception among Cognitive Biases towards Decision to Start a New Venture

The Objective of the study is to investigate the relationship of overconfidence bias and illusion of control bias towards the start of new venture, with the mediating role of risk perception in context of Pakistan. To understand the relationship, this study developed and tested hypothesis by correlation and regression analysis. This study’s sample consisted of 170 students pursuing a Masters of Business Administration.

The students’ responses to a survey based on a case study regarding a decision to start a venture were examined. This study found illusion of control and risk perceptions have significant effect on decision to start new venture. Conversely, overconfidence bias has insignificant relationship with decision to start new venture. The positive and negative impact of biases and perceiving low levels of risk suggest the importance of exploring the area of venture formation. As this study has incorporated two biases but many other biases should also be considered that effect human decision making process like self-efficacy, availability heuristics, law of small numbers and escalation of commitment.

The Influences of Employee Job Satisfaction an Organizational Commitment on Turnover Intention

This study aims to examine and find out the influences of job satisfaction and organizational commitment on employee turnover intention in a production industry. In this study find out what are other factors to influence the employee satisfaction and turnover intention the determinants of employee turnover has been studied extensively. Design/methodology/approach: There are a total of 70 questionnaires collected from 90 questionnaires that had been distributed at the chosen organization. Demographic characteristics were discussed briefly according to the frequency level and percentage.

In addition, both descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to analyze the data obtained. As for inferential statistics, Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to measure the degree between independent variables with dependent variable in this research. The research findings showed that for the independent variable of job satisfaction with the factors on satisfaction with pay and supervisory support had a low and negative significant relationship on employee turnover intention. However, organizational commitment had no significant relationship towards turnover intention among the employees within the organization. Originality/value: By reviewing the different finding that the Employee satisfaction and Turnover intention. The contribution of this paper is to look at how to finding the effective solution.
